Car Drives Wrong Way on Freeway in Charlotte

A woman drove her car the wrong way down Brookshire Freeway in Charlotte and caused a head-on car accident. The police believe she was driving while impaired.

The driver

was driving a Dodge Neon on the freeway near Interstate 85 at 9:30 p.m. Thursday when she collided with a van from the Bible Way Apostolic Church, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

She has been charged with driving while subject to an impairing substance and driving the wrong way on a highway. Eye witnesses say she did not have her lights on before the evening accident. Ten people were injured in the accident, but none of the injuries were life threatening.
