Drunk Driver Kills Man in Rowan County

A drunk driver hit another car and killed a man and injured a child. The car accident happened in Rowan County on Thursday night. He was driving on Interstate 85 going in the wrong direction at the time of the accident.

Troopers say he got onto Interstate 85 at Lane Street in Cabarrus County around 11:30 p.m. Thursday and went the wrong direction. A vehicle going the correct direction swerved to miss Turner's car near exit 63 in Rowan County, and flipped into the median, troopers said.

The man continued to drive after the accident and was found 3 miles away from the scene of the accident. He has been charged with second-degree murder and driving while impaired. The victim was prounounced dead at the scene. The 4-year-old child in the victim's car was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries.
