A little girl visiting the Greenville Zoo was hit on the head by a falling tree branch and suffered a severe head and brain injury. The 3-year-old was at the zoo with family members when the accident happened. Her aunt tried to get her out of the way of the falling branch but was not successful. She was taken to Greenville Hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Doctors say her brain was severely injured in the accident a little over a week ago.

Despite their efforts the little girl died on Friday. Her family thanked the community for their support and prayers.
