A Northampton boy was struck by a car and suffered a brain injury on Wednesday afternoon. The 6-year-old boy is at a local hospital for multiple injuries. He was trying to cross a street when he was hit by the car.

Bob Johnson, the boy's uncle, said Luke also suffered two broken legs, a broken jaw, broken eye socket, punctured lung and a possible spinal injury. He said he underwent an operation to relieve the swelling on his brain.

After Luke was hit by the car, his heart stopped, but paramedics revived him, Johnson said.

At the time of the accident the boy was with an older brother. The police are still investigating the accident and no charges have been filed against the driver of the car at this time.
