The Taste of Chicago is a large food tasting event held in Chicago for the past 27 years. This year's event was held at the beginning of July. For the first time in 20 years a food poisoning outbreak has marred the event. 636 people have now reported falling ill after eating at one of the booths. 66 cases have been confirmed as food poisoning with Salmonella.

Those who became ill said they ate at the Pars Cove Persian Cuisine booth at the yearly food festival.

According to a news release by the Chicago Department of Public Health, 66 of the cases are laboratory-confirmed cases of salmonellosis -- the illness that results from infection with salmonella bacteria. Of those confirmed cases, 41 were identified as Salmonella Heidelberg, a common form of salmonella in the U.S.

At least 25 people have been hospitalized for food poisoning. If you attended the event and believe you may be sick then you should contact your doctor or local health department.
